ALDILA PRESS RELEASE ARCHIVE
Designing a high performance shaft for the outstanding new generation of hybrid clubs is a two-pronged problem. The versatility of hybrid clubs, and their use in a wide variety of shot making situations, means you cannot design a shaft with any one single set of performance parameters in mind. Driver shafts are designed to optimize ball speed, spin rate and launch angle for a single shot – the tee ball. For a shaft to offer optimal performance in a hybrid club it must still provide optimal launch parameters off the tee, but, at the same time, it must allow the player to hit shots off the deck (whether fairway or rough) that can hold a green from a long way out. Off the tee, a player wants high launch, low spin - looking to optimize carry distance, and to have the ball run like a kicked cat when it lands. Off the deck, the player wants higher launch with consistent carry distance, and additional spin, so the ball lands on the green like a butterfly with sore feet! Cats and butterflies - One club, one shaft, two different ball flights – that was the design objective to behind the new Aldila Gamer Hybrid and Gamer Hybrid/FW. The flex profile and torque of the shaft were meticulously adjusted based on performance testing to provide outstanding performance both off the tee and off the deck.
Another important design objective of the Gamer was fitting versatility for the clubmaker. There is such a wide variety of hybrid clubs, utility clubs, and driving irons available, with different lofts, different playing lengths, and different performance characteristics, that clubmakers need shafts that they can fine tune to fit the performance requirements of each individual player, and their particular choice of clubhead. To help out in this regard, the new Aldila Gamer is designed with adequate parallel sections in both the shaft tip and butt, to accommodate a wide range of tip and butt trimming options, while maintaining good hosel fit, and a consistent grip fit. Additionally, the Gamer Hybrid is offered in both a 0.370 parallel tip, and a 0.355 taper tip. The Gamer Hybrid/FW comes in a 0.335 parallel tip.
The new Aldila Gamer - one shaft - optimized performance for two distinctly different shots - outstanding versatility in club fitting. Nuff said!!!
Aldila’s latest NV Iron graphite shaft has been proved to be a winner – less than a fortnight after it was launched.
The game’s leading designer and manufacturer of high performance graphite shaft launched its latest addition to the NV line on June 15th and 11 days later they were used to win the French Open at Paris National.
“It’s an incredible start,” said Mike Rossi, Aldila’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales. “All our research indicated that the new NV Iron graphite shafts performed really well and to achieve a Tour success so soon after the launch, confirms our belief that they can be used at the highest level and so can meet the demands of the world’s best players.”
Aldila’s NV Iron has created an incredible stir since it was shipped to golf shops in mid-June. It went straight onto Golf Digest’s Buzz List and is also starting to create waves on this side of the Atlantic.
“The NV Iron is a natural progression in our product line,” said Rossi. “The NV Wood shaft continues to be the most popular brand wood shaft in the market today and we believe the NV Iron will have a similar success in the premium iron market.
“We started to test the NV Iron on the PGA Tour at the beginning of January and we have been extremely pleased with the results. Rich Beem hit 90% of greens in regulation – the most in the field – at a recent PGA Tour event and now we have our first Tour victory under our belt as well.”
The NV Iron is available in two models, both featuring low torque, progressive tip-flex, constant weight designs – The 105 gram Pro Model and the 130 gram Tour Model, in both parallel and taper tip.
“This is how power should feel,” said Beem, the former US PGA champion, after a recent testing session.
Aldila is publicly traded on NASDAQ with the symbol ALDA.

On the European Tour, Aldila has witnessed an increase in popularity mirroring the success achieved on the PGA Tour. A recent survey showed that Aldila came 1st in Hybrid shafts at every event counted, growing from 32 % to 47%. In other categories a similar trend occurred with the Driver rising from 19% to 26% usage, the 1st Fairway wood count rising from 23% to 32% and the 2nd Fairway count increasing in use from 15% to 24%.
2007 will also see some exciting new additions to the Aldila line of shafts. With demand for the Pink NV shaft continuing to grow, Aldila will add a Pink NV Hybrid and a Pink NV Iron shaft to complete the series. POWAY, Calif. – Aldila continues to be the shaft of choice on every Tour whether it’s their NV™, VS Proto™ or their soon-to-be-released MOI Proto™. Monday’s win at the Verizon Heritage capped off another three-win weekend for Aldila with victories on the PGA, Nationwide and LPGA Tours.
The champion of the Verizon Heritage earned his first PGA Tour victory using a prototype of the new Aldila MOI Proto™ in his driver. The winners of the Nationwide Tour’s South Georgia Classic and the LPGA’s Ginn Open were both using Aldila’s VS Proto™ shafts in their hybrids en route to their victories.
The Verizon Heritage win also makes it three consecutive PGA Tour victories for Aldila. In the two previous weeks, the winner of the Master’s was using Aldila’s NV™ shaft in all his woods to capture the season’s first Major. Just prior to that at the tune up for the Master’s, the Shell Houston Open winner secured his victory using Aldila’s VS Proto™ in his driver, fairway wood and hybrid.
Also this week, Aldila won the hybrid shaft count on the PGA, the Nationwide and the LPGA Tours and was the wood shaft of choice on the Nationwide Tour.
Not only is Aldila a hit on Tour, but favored by the consumers as well. According to the Darrell Survey U.S. National Consumer Survey, Aldila was the leading graphite shaft manufacturer for new drivers, fairway woods and hybrid clubs for 2006.

NV ProtoPype shaft propels Argentine player to his first major title
Aldila followed up its victory at this year’s Masters by winning the season’s second major, the 107th U.S. Open Championship in Oakmont, Pa., to lay claim to the first half of golf’s Grand Slam. Using Aldila’s NV ProtoPype shaft in all of his woods and hybrid clubs, the U.S. Open winner held off the No. 1 and No. 3 players in the world to finish with a one-stroke victory giving Aldila back-to-back U.S. Open Championship titles.
“To win the first two majors of the season is truly an honor and to capture back-to-back U.S. Open titles while doing it is equally a big thrill for us,” said Mike Rossi, Aldila’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We couldn’t be prouder of our shafts and the technology behind them.”
The ProtoPype is part of Aldila’s NV family that features exclusive aerospace materials and incorporates Aldila’s exclusive Micro Laminate TechnologyTM that provides the players enhanced power, consistent flex and precise feel.
“The NV ProtoPype is a very stiff tip, low launch version of the standard NV designed for hard swinging players that want to hit the ball lower,” said Rossi.
The stiff tip and low launch of the Aldila ProtoPype proved to be a lethal combination for the U.S Open winner as he finished a close second in driving distance averaging more than 310 yards per drive.
According to the Darrell Survey, Aldila was also the shaft count winner for all woods and hybrids at the U.S. Open at the Oakmont Country Club.
Aldila remains the leader, innovator and premier manufacturer of high performance graphite golf shafts. Amongst Tour Professionals, Club Champions and avid weekend players, Aldila remains the shaft of choice.

Aldila also wins at Nissan Open, dominates major Tours as the number one hybrid shaft
POWAY, Calif. – Using Aldila’s Pink NVS shafts in her driver and 3-wood, Paula Creamer held onto a one-stroke advantage to win the SBS Open at the Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii, the first official LPGA Tour event of the 2007 season.
Creamer, who joined Aldila’s Advisory Staff in 2005, battled the windy conditions on Saturday to finish the tournament at 9-under-par 207.
“I want to win as much as I can this year,” said Creamer. “It’s a great feeling I haven't felt in a while and it changes my confidence knowing I can do it, play a game and go out there and finish as good as I can each week.”
Initially, Aldila made the one-of-a-kind pink shaft for Creamer because of her love for the color pink.
“After Paula experienced multiple wins using the Pink NVTM shaft, we were flooded with requests for the shaft so we decided to offer them on a limited basis,” said Stewart Bahl, Aldila’s Marketing Manager. “The number of requests for pink shafts led Aldila to offer the shaft in every weight and flex combination of both the NV and NVS woods,” Bahl said.
The distinguishing Pink finish covers the unique Micro Laminate Technology™ of the NV and NVS that provides the golfer with enhanced power, consistent flex and precise feel. Aldila now offers both the NV and NVS Pink shaft models, ranging in weight from 45 to 85 grams, in L through X flex. A portion of the proceeds from the Pink shafts sold through distribution and those sold through Aldila’s OEM partners is donated to charities.
Aldila was also a winner at the Nissan Open in Los Angeles this past weekend with the winner using the Aldila NV shaft. In addition to the two wins, Aldila also dominated the major Tours with as the number one hybrid shaft at the PGA, Nationwide, LPGA and Champions Tours.

hey've become increasingly colourful in recent times but don't be seduced by colour alone - your favourite shade may not suit your swing. Here, we take a look at three of Aldila's most popular shafts, highlighting which kind of golfer each is most suited to.
NV
The NV range has mid stiff tips, offering less torque than the NVS, as a result the NV provides the golfer with a slightly lower launch angle and reduced spin. The NV Pink is available in the same specifications, with part of the proceeds going to a breast cancer charity.
NVS
The NVS range features the same performance and feel as the NV but offers a higher launch. While the NV is a tip-stiff, low launch shaft, the NVS features a more responsive tip for those seeking a higher ball flight. Like the NV the NVS is also available in Pink.
VS Proto
The VS Proto is a new shaft predominantly used by professionals and offers the most feedback for golfers. The shafts have a mid stiff tip section that is slightly softer than the NV. The VS Proto also has very low torque to help reduce spin rate and shot dispersion, producing a low penetrating ball flight. This shaft is for golfers who desire a little higher launch angle, but also want to reduce overall backspin off the driver.
Which ever shaft you choose it is worth considering a variation in weights because they are not necessarily the same throughout your set. For example a light version of each shaft is often best suited to the driver while a heavier one may be better in your three wood. This variation will help to create a smoother weight transition through to your hybrids and irons.
VS Proto™ ‘ByYou’ is winner’s shaft of choice
POWAY, Calif. – The winner of the Shell Houston Open in Humble, Texas blew by the competition using Aldila’s VS Proto™ “ByYou” shaft in his Driver, Fairway Wood and Hybrid Club. The runner-up was also using Aldila technology, their new prototype R&D shaft was in his Driver, Fairway Wood and the Aldila NV was in his Hybrid club.
On the Nationwide Tour the winner of the Livermore Valley Wine Country Championship in Livermore, Calif. was using the Aldila NV™ in his driver.
Aldila was the PGA Tour’s leading Hybrid manufacturer this week and the Nationwide Tour’s leading wood shaft and hybrid shaft manufacturer.
The VS Proto™ shaft incorporates Aldila’s innovative new Next Generation Micro Laminate Technology™ featuring Carbon Nano-tubes, combined with Aldila’s proprietary A65 Performance Resin System, using advanced ultra high modulus graphite fibers, all synthesized into Micro Laminate Technology™ unparalleled performance and feel.
“The VS Proto is the straightest, longest shaft we have ever offered - with feel other shafts can't touch,” said Stewart Bahl, Aldila’s Marketing Manager.
