BMW PGA Championship

In 2005, GMS was appointed Golf PR and Marketing Support Agency for BMW UK, with particular emphasis placed on maximizing publicity from the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club. Subsequently, the company has also worked in a similar role in 2006, ’07 and ’08.

Strategy

  • Manage on behalf of BMW the media launch of the BMW PGA Championship
  • Maximize public awareness through a series of targeted press releases in the lead up to the BMW PGA Championship
  • Organize special Championship promotional campaigns to go out on London Tonight, BBC Radio 5 Live, The Times, Today’s Golfer and Europeantour.com
  • Write and design a commemorative Championship supplement inserted in Golf Monthly, Britain’s best-read golf magazine
  • Produce daily reports for the official Championship programme
  • Analyse post Championship cuttings and reports

Results

  • The BMW name becomes synonymous with the European Tour’s flagship event
  • BMW enhances its reputation as the strongest supporter of  the European Tour
  • The BMW brand name is beamed into the homes of ABC1 golfers across Europe and beyond
