Carnoustie is home of one of the world’s greatest Championship venues and one of the most challenging courses in the game. Carnoustie’s famous Championship course has hosted a total of seven Open Championships, most recently in 2007 when Ireland’s Padraig Harrington dropped two shots on the 72nd hole but then recovered his composure to defeat Spaniard, Sergio Garcia, in the subsequent 4-hole play-off. In addition to its famous Championship course, Carnoustie also boasts two other courses, the Burnside, which was used a venue for Final Qualifying for the Open Championship on several occasions, and the newer Buddon Links, designed by Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas. Carnoustie operates an on-line green fee system for all three courses on www.carnoustiegolflinks.co.uk. It also offers a Combination Ticket, giving subsidized green fees to visitors who play all three courses during any 2-day period (including weekends).
