England’s Golf Coast

Home to the world’s highest concentration of championship links courses’, England’s Golf Coast embraces a spectacular stretch of Northwest England from Cumbria and the Lake District in the North down to the Wirral and Cheshire in the South. The golf courses under England’s Golf Coast’s umbrella are some of the UK's most challenging and daunting, located on some of the most naturally beautiful coastline in the United Kingdom.

In total the region boasts three of the top 20 and seven of the top 36 courses in the UK and Ireland, as well as being home to three famous Royal links courses –Birkdale, Liverpool and Lytham & St Annes. Together these world-renowned venues have hosted the Open Championship on no fewer than 29 occasions since 1897.

The combination of sea, sand and the forces of nature offer an irresistible challenge – not just for those testing their skills at the three famous Royals – but for players venturing out on such beautiful courses as Silloth in Cumbria or Southport & Ainsdale, (the first course to stage two Ryder Cups), and nearby Hillside, sometimes regarded as the best links never to have hosted the Open.
