George (45) joined the Board of GMS back in 2001 as Financial Director and Company Secretary.
A career in Finance started with 3 years at Deloitte’s, followed by 15 months at Donavan Data Systems, suppliers of media and accounting software to the Advertising Agencies. In 1988 he was invited to join the Board of the family owned business T.G.Lynes Ltd, “Main Distributors of materials and plant for Mechanical Services, Heating , Plumbing and Air Movement”. Subsequent roles as Finance Director, Managing Director and, latterly as Chairman have seen an expansion from a small trade counter business in Kings Cross, London into a £16m distribution business in Enfield, trading out of a 47,000 sq.ft. purpose built distribution centre.
George was one of the founder members of Brocket Hall Golf Club in 1991 – playing today off a 10 handicap. He is keen follower of rugby, football and cricket now that his playing days are over.
