PING pro Gregory Havret claimed his third European Tour title this past weekend with an emphatic wire-to-wire victory at the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.

Havret’s victory was a superb performance, leading after a first round 68 and then after every round which followed with rounds of 71, 69 and 70 for a 14 under par aggregate of 278. An edgy 72nd hole tee-shot left Gregory with a tricky 10 ft par putt on the final green which he calmly holed to finish one shot ahead of Graeme Storm and two ahead of Peter Hanson and David Howell.

The victory reaffirmed Havret’s love affair with Scotland after the Frenchman’s win at last years Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond. Leading from start to finish Havret was in a class of his own at Gleneagles overcoming a strong field that included leading names in European golf as well as a number of players scrapping for one of the final berths on the European Ryder Cup Team.

The Frenchman’s statistics throughout the week were understandably impressive but it was his driving and putting that propelled him to victory. Overall he was 4th in Driving Accuracy, 3rd in Putts per GIR and 2nd in Putts per Round

Gregory had 14 PING clubs in his bag including; a Rapture 9 degree Driver, G10 14 degree 3-Wood, 18 degree Rapture Hybrid, S58 Irons (3-PW), Tour-W Wedges (52 & 58) and a G5i Craz-E B Putter.

The win at Gleneagles came after Havret had taken 5 weeks off and had not played since the Open Championship. His winner’s cheque for € 292355.49 vaults him up to 29th in the European Tour Order of Merit and guarantees him a place in the season ending Volvo Masters at Valderama.
